CursorX overview

CursorX automatically moves your mouse cursor to the active button in dialogs — no more long mouse movements to Save, OK, or Cancel.

CursorX keeps your cursor where it matters when a dialog appears.

This lightweight menu bar app detects system and app dialogs and moves your mouse to the default or cancel button, so you can confirm or dismiss with a single click instead of hunting across the screen.

Save Time And Effort
  • No more long mouse movements to reach Save, OK, or Cancel
  • Cursor jumps directly to the active button — one click and done
  • Reduces repetitive arm and wrist movement throughout the day
Less Strain, More Focus
  • Fewer mouse movements mean less physical effort and mental load
  • Focus on your work instead of chasing dialog buttons
  • Especially helpful when dialogs appear far from your current cursor position
Smart Button Targeting
  • Choose your target: Default (Save/OK/Apply) or Cancel
  • Optional delay before movement so you can read first
  • Optional return to original cursor position after clicking
  • Improved Adobe support (Photoshop and Illustrator), including more reliable Save-button targeting
  • Smarter handling of Adobe “Save to Cloud” and toolbar/button false matches
App Filter Modes
  • Exclude mode: CursorX runs everywhere except listed apps
  • Whitelist Only mode: CursorX runs only in listed apps
  • One shared app list for both modes with a simple segmented control in Settings
Custom Words And Better Matching
  • Add your own button words for better detection in your workflow
  • Includes extra consent-style keywords such as agree to, agree &, and i agree
  • Uses both AX title and AX description attributes for broader compatibility (for example in System Settings)
Keyboard Shortcut
  • Global shortcut: Cmd+Shift+X toggles CursorX on/off
  • Shortcut is customizable in Settings
  • Shortcut hint is visible in the menu for quick reference
Made For The Menu Bar
  • Lives in the menu bar with a compact, native macOS layout
  • Launch at login and stay out of the way
  • Clean visual settings, including optional cursor effects
Privacy & Accessibility
  • Uses Apple Accessibility APIs to detect dialogs and button positions
  • No accounts, tracking, or analytics required
  • Requires Accessibility permission to move the cursor on your behalf

If you work with many dialogs and want to save time and effort, CursorX is the small utility that puts your cursor right where you need it.

What's new in version 3.0

Fixed
  • Fixed incorrect button targeting in Adobe apps where CursorX could jump to “Save to Adobe Cloud” or toolbar/tool buttons.
  • Fixed false cursor jumps to Share buttons in Finder and browser windows.
  • Fixed Illustrator cases where button detection could stop responding and produce no debug output.
  • Fixed Settings footer year formatting (e.g. preventing localized output like “2.026”).
  • Fixed multiple force-unwrap / AX edge cases to reduce crash-prone behavior.
Added
  • Added app filter modes in Settings: Exclude and Whitelist only.
  • Added segmented mode selector with mode-specific icon behavior (✓ for Whitelist, ✗ for Exclude).
  • Added custom keyword support for additional consent-style buttons: agree to, agree &, i agree.
  • Added AX description-based matching (kAXDescriptionAttribute) alongside title matching for better compatibility in apps like System Settings.
  • Added global keyboard shortcut toggle: Cmd+Shift+X (customizable in Settings).
  • Added permanent built-in exclusions for Safari and Mail to prevent unintended cursor movement there.
  • Added “Close Window” action in Settings footer (replacing the previous quit action there), with translations.
Improved
  • Improved Adobe dialog button detection (Photoshop + Illustrator), especially for Save/Save As workflows.
  • Improved Adobe fallback logic by validating focused/main window context before selecting targets.
  • Improved prioritization rules to favor local Save buttons over Cloud CTAs using context + width-aware heuristics.
  • Improved keyword matching quality across localized labels using normalized matching and deduplication.
  • Improved runtime responsiveness by reducing unnecessary scans and optimizing keyword checks.
  • Improved update-check robustness with explicit HTTP status validation.
  • Improved overall reliability in Accessibility, launch-at-login sync, Settings state handling, and button-selection stability.
